Black Pashminas Are Timeless and Go With Anything

posted on 22 February 2012

I love my black pashmina as it never goes out of style and goes with whatever I wear. In these hard times economically, you can still be fashionable if you choose your colours carefully. Silver, gold, black, white, cream - these colours tend to go with any other colour, so for accessories, go with these colours. It'll save you buying a large collection of colours of pashminas, jewellery, belts, shoes etc. That's what I do and I always look stylish no matter what dress I wear, and I haven't spent a fortune on my accessories either. They always say some colour-of-the-day is "the new black" - well there's a reason they say that. It's because black is the benchmark colour - it's the one colour that not only never goes out of style, but is THE most stylish colour out of all of them. That's why I always go for black.

The Wonderful World of Bodily Holes

Earrings are essential for all wardrobes. They can come in plastic, clip-on, sterling silver, gold plated, silver plated and they go well with just about everything. They can be made for everyone to wear. They come in every style, colour, metal, material and size. They can go with any outfit and turn a complete black outfit into a very glamorous one. Earrings can be found everywhere. And even though they break, hurt your ears, get caught on just about everything, they sure are mandatory for someone like myself. I own every colour, shape and size of earring there are. I'm extremely glad that earrings exist because if not, my outfits and wardrobes would be incomplete and I would be deeply saddened by this. They go so well with my other accessories - like my bangles and bracelets collection. In total, I have 7 piercings and have many different earrings to fit the holes. However, I dont take it to the extreme and gauge my ears, I guess I'm just old fashioned and keep my ears nice and perfect so that when I'm older my ears wont look like someone stabbed me with a big hook!

To Every Season Turn, Turn, Turn To Boots!

My favorite fashion item would have to be shoes. I know that’s broad, and I have quite a collection - from silver occasion heels to trainers - so I’ll narrow it down to boots and moccasins. Boots are practical in almost any situation, ankle boots, knee high boots, thigh high boots, oh my! Rain boots in the spring, ankle boots in the summer, knee high for fall, and of course thigh high for the snowy winter months! Boots keep your feet dry and come in so many colors and styles, they seriously go with everything! That’s what makes them one of my favorites. Moccasins, while not as seasonally versatile, are super cute and super comfy at the same time. There are certain moccasins that come in a bootie style that are adorable for fall just don’t go puddle jumping in them! While some think that moccasins only compliment hippie styles I would have to disagree, they have moccasins with faux fur in them to keep your feet warm on crisp fall days, soul-less moccasins for that almost barefoot feeling. Moccasins are mostly about looking cute but they, like boots, offer a variety of colors you can always pair them up with any casual outfit! I think both boots and moccasins are a must have in any woman’s closet!

Don't Bother Trying To Cheer Me Up: Why I'd Dress Up As Eeyore

posted on 3 February 2012

My first experience of a fancy dress party was when I was around seven years old. My mother, a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh, saw this as an opportunity to dress everyone up and, dutifully, she spent many nights wrestling with fabric and our old sewing machine. Being the youngest, and smallest, I was to be Piglet. Now, I'm not much of a party animal, even back then, and judging by the photographs of the event (that my mother happily brings out whenever possible), I wasn't much of a party animal back then. While the rest of my family looked like they were having fun, I was the glummest Piglet ever recorded by camera. Now I'm older and even grumpier looking, I'd have to dress up as Eeyore. With the sewing skills I've picked up from my mother, I'm sure I could cobble together a costume that'd make me look the part. With my dour, sarcastic and generally resigned manner, I'm absolutely certain I could act the part. When people tell me to cheer up, the best I could offer would be a sullen "thanks for noticing me."

Buying Gadget Gifts that You Know People Will Love

posted on 19 January 2012

Unusual gifts often make the best gifts. Take my sister - she likes to use jewellery making supplies to make bespoke jewellery gifts for her femal friends. Me? I love to buy gadgets for people for their birthday and Christmas presents. Gadgets make great gifts as they are not only fun but save people time and effort which I know they will appreciate. Not only that but as gadgets tend to be marketed for a shorter period of time there is much less chance of getting people something that they already have which can make present time a bit uncomfortable. The best gadgets are ones that fit with an existing hobby or interest for the person you are buying for and there is something for nearly everyone. Kitchen and home entertainment gadgets are always popular but I tend to go for something more individual, for example the musicians in my family this year got a punch that makes guitar plectrums out of old bank cards. That’s individual, they know you have really picked out something special for them and they can use it time and time again.
