I would imagine that I am somewhat unusual compared to some housewives when I say that the kitchen is my favourite room in the house. Although kitchens tend to be rooms that are associated with work and drudgery, I see them as a place of creativity and health. I just love cooking, it's that simple. When I am preparing a meal I am excited about the final result and I love providing food for other people. This is what makes it my favourite place in my home, even the place in my home where I feel most at home. I don't have a fancy kitchen, I have a terrible oven which cooks unevenly and is very slow to warm up and cool down, and I don't have a lot of expensive equipment, but I love the challenge that it presents to me everyday. My blender is my best friend, my less than ideally sharp chef's knife is like a brother, the cooker like that friend that you've known your whole life and annoys you everyday but you love all the same. I just love being in my kitchen, there is a sense of peace and comfort whenever I am in it. The kitchen is my home. |
