The Toys That Brought Me to Life

posted on 6 July 2012

Growing up, every kid has a select few toys that he or she is proud to own those little bits of plastic we wouldn't trade for anything in the world - from the radio controlled car that's been driven for miles, to dolls, to board games, to nowadays even computer games. I still know what mine were, and believe it or not, I still have them and cherish them above all else. First, I had this little cassette player/recorder called the Talkboy. I absolutely adored it. I'd sneak around my house recording people's conversations, pretending I was a spy or something, and then I'd listen to what I had recorded and pretend to analyze it. Second, I had a set of Pogs that I adored perhaps more than anything else ever. They each a different picture or character on them, and my brother and I used to play a game with them against each other, and compete to try to win our favorite from each other. I don't think I'll ever let go of these prized possessions. They remind me that there's a kid inside of all of us, and hey, they're still pretty fun to play around with.
