As much as many of us dislike seeing a doctor, if you want to make a compensation claim, you will need to do this on several occasions. You will need to see a doctor when you get the injury and this will provide evidence to show that it was the accident that caused it. You may, in fact, have been taken to hospital and seen a lot of doctors. You may not want to see another one again!
It can be useful to have an independent medical examination. This will show how well your recovery is going and will establish whether you need any help currently in a medical sense. It is likely that your no win no fee solicitor will be able to organise this for you.
It is nothing to be worried about though. As much as some of us do not like doctors, it will provide vital evidence for your case. Without it, you may find that you do not get the compensation and then putting forward the claim will have been a complete waste of time.
The medical, will be done by an independent person. It will be able to prove that your medical records are correct. The other party may say that your own GP's records did not properly document the injury or whatever and so by getting an independent check as well, they will not be abl et make this sort of claim. They may also spot something your GP has missed, which could very much be in your advantage as you will be able to get the necessary treatment.
It is a standard procedure for a personal injury lawyer to make you have an independent medical assessment and so it is something that you cannot avoid if you want to make a personal injury claim. |
